Week 4

Here is what is going on this week in our class:

• Tuesday - Library, please make sure students return library book.
• Wednesday - PE, Meet the Masters
• Thursday - Computers
• Friday - 
• Internet Safety Assembly
• Fun Friday activity for all students who earned it (stayed on green or yellow all week).
• Music

These are just a few of the things we will be learning this week:

• Language Arts
• Infer, predict, sequence stories
• -at, -am, -an, and -ad word families
• reading, writing, phonemic awareness daily

• Math - Comparing and ordering numbers to 12
• Social Studies - Respecting our environment, living vs. nonliving
• Science - Parts of plants

This week we will begin word study as part of our phonics instruction.  Students will soon be grouped by their ability for their word study lessons.  As students become comfortable with this instructional method, I will use those words for weekly spelling tests.   We will be building stamina so students can independently have word study so that I be able to work with reading groups and skill groups.  Ask your child where else we are building stamina.
