Week 36

Remember to complete math homework, moon observations, and worksheet as homework.
Please make sure your child has their part for the program memorized by Thursday.  Also, we will begin practicing with props on Thursday.  If your child would like to bring the following things,  he/she may, but please make sure their name is on the item:

  • Sunglasses
  • Umbrella
  • Doll

We have been having a lot of fun watching how the sun and the moon change.  This weekend, May 20 @ 6:22 pm, presents a wonderful opportunity for the everyone to observe a solar eclipse where the moon is going to cross in the direct path between the sun and the earth.   Be sure to pick up some eclipse viewing glasses at the Clark Planetarium- they are $2.   Here is a note from the U of U about local places to view the eclipse using filtered telescopes:

The Dept. of Physics & Astronomy and the Clark Planetarium will be hosting solar eclipse viewing on May 20. We'll have telescopes set up at the South Physics Observatory, Gateway Mall Fountain, SLC Main City Library, and the Dimple Dell Recreation Center. Come join us for free! We'll be open at 6 pm and the eclipse will begin at approximately 6:22pm.

Here is a link to KSL’s information about a Ring of Fire Eclipse and how best to view it.

Here you can find out more about eclipse, moon phases, planets...
